#SelfCare

For five years, our free experimental app #SelfCare has been here to comfort you.

We believe that love is more beneficial than winning. In #SelfCare there is no score, no pressure, no winning. Instead, you'll find inherently soothing, lovely self-care rituals such as laundry, tarot cards and a familiar cat.

 Frequently Asked Questions
about #SelfCare

Will the person in the bed ever get up or leave the room?

We created #SelfCare as a way to step back from goal achievement and deepen into ourselves. This is why this person stays under the covers. Sometimes we can’t physically stay in bed, but we can take a moment to tend to ourselves in #SelfCare until we're ready to continue with our day.

I found a bug in #SelfCare. Where can I report it?

Thank you so much for helping us improve our app! First, we suggest updating to the latest version of our app and making sure your phone has sufficient memory for apps to run smoothly. If you are stuck on a ritual, try checking out the tutorial for each ritual in the ritual's menu, under Tips. If you have a bug to report, please note your device type and what version of #SelfCare you have downloaded, and email us or DM us on Instagram.

I have a great idea for #SelfCare. Can I send it to you?

We'd love to hear from you! Please email us or DM us on Instagram with anything you'd like to share.

What is a research collective? Does TRU LUV collect my data?

Our Privacy Policy explains why and how we collect and use data. Data collection is disabled by default. Our app may later invite you to be part of our research collective. Our research collective is a subset of our audience who consent to share their anonymized data with TRU LUV. You can then opt in or out of data collection anytime in the Privacy menu in #SelfCare. TRU LUV cares about your privacy. We never collect any text you enter. Your text is stored securely in your iCloud on iOS or in your device on Android, not with TRU LUV.

I am under 16 years old. Can I still use #SelfCare?

#SelfCare is designed from principles of adult development psychology to create the conditions for refuge, resilience and transformation. Our Terms of Service requires you to be 16 years old or above.

Can I start fresh in #SelfCare?

On iOS, we currently do not have an option to start fresh. We will add this feature as our development team grows. We thank you for your patience in the meantime!

If I delete #SelfCare and reinstall, will I lose my progress?

On iOS, your progress (including journal entries and sacred things on your altar) is saved in your iCloud. You can delete and reinstall and you should keep your progress, following the usual iCloud guidelines. Unfortunately, we currently don’t have the resources to support an Android version. We thank you for your understanding.

How do I restore my purchases or refund a purchase made in error?

You can restore or refund purchases through your personal Apple App Store account.

My family member and I share an Apple account. Can we have separate #SelfCare profiles?

Currently we do not have the resources to support this option. We may add it in the future as our team expands, and we thank you for your patience.

I have an Android phone. Why don’t I see #SelfCare?

Unfortunately, we currently don't have the resources to support an Android version. Thank you for your understanding.

Can I find #SelfCare’s music somewhere to download?

Our music was made by Nathan Curry and we love it, too. We currently don't offer it anywhere outside of #SelfCare. As we expand our team, we'll do more with our music. We thank you for your patience in the meantime!

Can I buy a physical version of your tarot deck?

We love our tarot deck, illustrated by our Art Director Michael Winder. We currently don't have the resources to offer it outside of #SelfCare.

Can I get #SelfCare in another language?

We currently don't have the resources for localization. As we expand our team and prove our model, more will become possible for us. We thank you for the patience in the meantime!

 Frequently Asked Questions
about our rituals

How does [this #SelfCare ritual] work?

If you go into a rituals’s menu and select Tips you will find some guidance. Sometimes we also post additional insight into our rituals on our Instagram.

Can you read what I write in my #SelfCare journal?

TRU LUV cares about your privacy. We never collect any text you enter. Your text is stored securely in your personal iCloud on iOS or in your device on Android, not with Unity Analytics or TRU LUV. Our Privacy Policy explains why and how we collect and use data. You can opt in or out of data collection in the Privacy menu in #SelfCare.

Why can’t I find my paper flowers in my journal?

When you save a creation in our paper flowers ritual, it appears as a pencil sketch in the center of the page when you start a new journal entry using a journal prompt. To save an exact, full-color replica of your creation, you can use the share button in the top left corner of the ritual space or take a screenshot.

The Moon phase doesn’t seem to be right for my location. How can I fix it?

In the Moon ritual's menu, check which hemisphere you've set. We made the southern hemisphere the default setting as an expression of TRU LUV's commitment to centering marginalized voices. The North American tech industry sometimes forgets about the southern hemisphere. Currently, we also use the precise time of the lunar calendar, rather than the full calendar day. So, the Moon phase may switch only a bit later in the day or night.

Why do I keep getting the same things for my altar and not some of the ones I’ve seen on Instagram?

Everyone receives sacred things for their altar in a different order. Sometimes you'll receive duplicates. This represents our collective's commitment to self-discovery, resonant patterns and letting go of completionism. Some sacred things, such as the Moon phases or tarot cards, are linked to magical times or rituals. As you explore over time, you should eventually receive a wider variety of sacred things.
